Company Evaluation:
The Problem:
A client of ours sensed a great opportunity in purchasing a business, but he was not aware of how to evaluate the worth of this business. Along with not knowing if his sense was accurate, he also lacked the information and know-how to negotiate the deal. He needed someone who could prove to him that his idea was a wise one, and then help him buy it at a great price.
The Solution:
Nexus Business Solutions was able to assess the value of the business opportunity by first extracting what our client’s objectives were and how he defined value. We determined that his primary motivation was to purchase a business that would produce significant cash flow, but demanded minimal expense and involvement on his part. After we understood what he wanted, we were able to develop specific criteria on which to evaluate the business and investigate its worth. We compared financial data with industry averages to find out if the business generated above average returns and was, therefore, the best use of his money. Through this and other forms of assessment, we discovered that the business concept did fulfill his expectations and was, in fact, a worthwhile opportunity to pursue.
Due to the information we had gathered, we were then able to negotiate a lower price with the seller. Our client confidently bought the business, assured he had made the right investment decision. In the end, he got what he wanted and at the lowest possible price.
