Financial Management and Bookkeeping Support:

Problem 1:

A client that owned multiple companies needed a way to organize financial information to quickly assess the financial state of each segment of his companies. He needed to make macro level decision-making from a risk-management standpoint, but did not have time for in-depth analysis.

Solution 1:

Nexus Business Solutions developed a financial matrix model called a Dashboard, so named because it functions as a car dashboard that allows the driver to view pertinent information about the vehicle’s state and condition. In the same fashion, our Dashboard posed as a way for the owner to examine important indicators on the financial performance of his company in one, easy-to-read and concise document. The Dashboard, generated on a weekly basis, became the managerial tool our client needed to reveal the specific numerical performance of each segment, allowing for appropriate fund allocation, and captured any variances.

Problem 2:

One of our clients had no understanding of their financial situation, and their haphazard method of keeping books was a waste of time that actually prevented them from taking their company in the direction they wanted to go. Their decisions were either too risky or not risky enough, and they often did not take advantage of good opportunities. They had all the financial information needed to make wise business decisions, but it was not organized and presented in a way that would allow them to understand what was going on in their company and thus make informed decisions. Despite their lack of money control, they still spent too much time keeping the books - staying up at night and working on weekends just to get it all done.

Solution 2:

We realized that much of our client’s troubles could be solved with one change: a better system for keeping financial records. Without a tool to capture financial information in an efficient and easy-to-understand format, they could not manage cash flow and keep tabs on their company’s performance. We then introduced them to QuickBooks and explained how to use the program to save time and understand their company better. After we helped to get them set up with the program, they had reduced their bookkeeping tasks from 3 hours to 45 minutes. They were also able to make informed decisions and no longer took risky stabs in the dark. We also devised methods to use QuickBooks to collaborate operations between branch offices. QuickBooks allowed them to expand their business in a ways they could not have done before, and, as a result, brought them the peace of mind and certainty they were looking for.
